Who are brap?

brap is a charity transforming the way we think and do equality. We’ve been working on the cutting edge of practice for over 20 years. Our work connects us to leaders, practitioners and communities across a range of areas, from social impact organisations to global commercial businesses, from elected representatives to residents in some of our most disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

Our work spans research, evaluation, policy, organisational and professional development, community development, and coaching, campaigning and connecting people to opportunities to re-design our society so that it is more equitable, inclusive and authentic.

Over the last few months, we have been working with Walsall for All delivering a range of interventions designed to improve how people live, work and socialise together. This is one of 16 workshops we're delivering in the borough to help anyone working with Walsall's communities to develop their awareness and response to integration. What does the session cover?

Unconscious bias is a developing area of equality and diversity training and brap has been working in this area for over 6 years.

This workshop is designed to be engaging and thought-provoking. It offers you the opportunity to have discussion and debate that helps your understanding of bias. We encourage you to engage critically and honestly in self-reflection, we support you to deepen your awareness and dialogue on contentious issues and where possible, we will help you to have more courageous conversations about what really matters.

The session covers the following:

1. What is bias and how does it show up in how we work with communities?

2. What impact does bias have?

3. Different kinds of bias and how to spot them

4. Strategies to de-bias and help more people in Walsall feel connected, listened to and included.

Who can attend?

This FREE session is open to anyone that works with communities in Walsall. You can work as a volunteer, leader or paid staff member working in any sector (public, private, non-profit). All you need to do is book, turn up and bring a pen... we'll provide you with everything else you need.
